WSIB Occupational Therapy Provider


Workers who require treatment for a musculoskeletal injury or recurrence will be treated in a Program of Care (POC).

Three Programs of Care address Musculoskeletal Injuries:

  1. Workers with low back pain will be treated in the Low Back Program of Care
  2. Workers with a shoulder injury will be treated in the Shoulder Program of Care
  3. Workers with other Musculoskeletal injuries will be treated in the Musculoskeletal Program of Care

Program of Care for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Active treatment & Education Stream
  • Initial Assessment and Outcomes Summary Report
  • Cognitive Rehabilitation
  • Manual Mobilization Therapy and Education

Therapeutic interventions that focus on cognitive function (e.g., attention, memory, reasoning, executive function, reasoning, problem solving, and/or pragmatic functioning) and compensatory strategies to manage the performance of an activity (e.g., managing time or schedules, initiating, organizing and sequencing tasks), direct (one-on-one) patient contact.

Occupational Therapy is vital as we establish together with the client, compensatory strategies for managing their optimal performance of everyday activities.

Occupational Therapy Services:

  • Treatment Visits an take place in clinic or in the client's home.
  • Functional Abilities Form for Planning Early and Safe Return to Work (FAF). Request for the completion of the form must be initiated by either the worker or employer.
  • Telephone consultation with treating health professional. Call must be initiated by the WSIB to treating health professional.
